Dorgan, Theo

(1953- )
   Born in Cork, he graduated with a B.A. in English and philosophy and an M.A. in English from University College, Cork, where he was tutor and lecturer, then literature officer with Triskel Arts Centre, Cork. From 1986 to 1989 he was a co-director of the Cork Film Festival. He is a member of Aosdána and the Irish Arts Council. He co-edited The Great Book of Ireland (1991) and co-edited essays by various authors on the legacy of the 1916 Easter Rising. He has also published a selection of poems in Italian, La Case ai Margini del Mundo (1999), and a Spanish translation of Sappho's Daughter, titled La Hija de Safo (2001). A former director of Poetry Ireland (Éigse Éireann), he has worked extensively as a broadcaster of literary programs on both radio and television. Some of his poetry publications: Slow Air, 1975.
